Illuminating an inner city residence

Set within the bustling streets of South Melbourne, the Park St residence is a tranquil inner city home over four levels, on a deep and narrow site. The commission to redesign aspects of the house required a careful response balancing restraints with constraints, in equal parts.

Harnessing the natural light in the spaces, our work introduced a more considered approach to planning, accentuated strong lines, and employed materials and finishes offering a heightened sense of luxury.

The design outcomes spanned the rooftop, kitchen, living areas and curation of furniture and object art – setting a benchmark for how to maximise the usable space, while ensuring it retained the ongoing qualities of a warm and pragmatic family home.
