Northcote residence is a response to a period home, and our clients vision of introducing a sense of serenity and restraint marked by Japanese influences. Having spent a significant time of their lives working in Asia, our clients aspired to create a residence which could equally represent their eastern and western sensibilities, and showcase the antique pieces they had collected over the years.
Working with architects JUA, the new additions celebrate the original features of the house, while adding large volumes of space, gabled ceilings, expanses of glass, and custom timber joinery.
The design brings an abundance of light into the home with views towards a Japanese garden of maple trees and hand laid stepping stones, and extends the themes of the residence from inside to outside.
