With world-class hospitality venues and a vibrant night life attracting patrons to the Morris Moor precinct, a need was identified to create additional spaces to meet the seasonal demands of the site, particularly in the summer months.
We were engaged to devise a temporary structure to help activate the central courtyard, with a brief for it to be easily installed and dismantled, while also balancing a playful design aesthetic with the functional realities of a hospitality environment.
Taking a utilitarian approach, we designed a ‘pop-up’ modular form using a standardised scaffolding system, clad in Klein blue mesh, combined with planter boxes and greenery. The assembly was further illuminated with diagonal patterned lighting, creating an ideal evening outdoor space for eating and socialising.
